5th Balkan Sports Medicine Congress, 5-7 June 1981,
Izmir, Turkey.

The Congress was held in Aegean University Ataturk Cultural Centre. Opening speeches were made by Minister of Sport, Vecdi Gönül and Prof.Akgün (President of Turkish Sports Medicine Association). State symphonic orchestra performed the Egmont Ouverture of Bethoven and Katibim of Prof. Dr. Bülent Tarcan during the opening ceremony.

30 oral presentation were given. The texts were published in Turkish Sports Medicine Journal (Volume 16, Issues 2-3-4, 1981) with the financial support of Turkish Science and Research Council. 8 Bulgarian, 8 Romanian, 5 Yugoslavian, 8 Greek, 2 British and 75 Turkish delegates (106 in total) participated the Congress.
