1st Balkan Sports Medicine Congress, 8-14 October 1972,
Athens, Greece

The first Balkan Sports Medicine Congress was organized in Athens, Eugenion Institute (Greece) between 8-14 October 1972. There was no registration fee for the Congress. The delegates accommodated in Agios Kosmas National Sport Centre and the fee was only 7 USD (including meals). Greek, French and English were official languages of the Congress. 80 international and 120 Greek participants have attended this first Congress. Sport Secretariat of Greece, Mr. G. Vladimiros made an opening speech. Prof. Ulmenau (FIMS Vice President, Romania) has presented a report on the “Development of Sports Medicine in Balkan Countries”.
